As part of a AA lecture/event series
curated by Marco Poletto:

Grasshopper at the AA 12.05.2010

Presentation 1
David Rutten - Grasshopper

Some Background & History, Recent Developments & maybe some discussion on future developments.

Kangaroo at the AA 12.05.2010

Presentation 2
Daniel Piker - Kangaroo

A live physics engine for Rhino & Grasshopper

Kangaroo embeds powerful mathematical models of real physical behaviour directly in Rhino's 3D modelling environment; so designers can use it to integrate with and inform a design right from the very earliest stages.

It enables rapid exploration not just of catenary and tensile structures, but also makes it possible to creatively play with and invent new physical form-finding techniques.

A great variety of naturally occurring processes and behaviours can be simulated, and ideas of self-organisation and material intelligence can be applied in a very immediate way.

Geometry Gym at the AA 12.05.2010

Presentation 3
Jon Mirtschin - Geometry Gym

Jon will present on utilising Rhino3d and Grasshopper3d for geometrical modelling, primarily for architecture and structure. Geometry Gym has developed plug-ins, featuring tools and techniques including
geodesic domes, minimal surfaces,
mesh relaxing, tessellation and
parametric steel frame modelling.

These 3 presentations will be followed by a joint Q&A / discussion session.

There will also be some additional work, made possible by this combination of Grasshopper & Rhino 3d, presented by current students at the AA School.
